Introduction

The Centre for Education Statistics and Evaluation (CESE) has commissioned the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) to evaluate the K-2 Literacy and Numeracy Action Plan. This evaluation is looking at the implementation of the Action Plan, and the extent to which the Action Plan has improved literacy and numeracy outcomes for K-2 students.

What is this online forum about?

The past school year has been unprecedented, with the Black Summer bushfires, followed by floods and then the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. These major events have required schools to physically close for extended periods, and to deliver different modes of learning (concurrently at times). Some schools have also experienced trauma among their school community.

These topics of discussion focus on how your role as a K-2 instructional leader has been impacted during this time of large-scale, unexpected disruption. This will be an opportunity to have a facilitated, but free-flowing discussion with other K-2 instructional leaders.

What will happen with the discussions?

By agreeing to continue to the online forum, you consent to UTS collecting and using the information captured in these discussions for the evaluation. All information will be anonymous and stored securely.

We plan to use information from this and other online forums, to tailor our short survey sent to all instructional leaders later in 2020. Aggregated information will also be published in the final evaluation report to representatives from the NSW Department of Education, Catholic Schools NSW and the Association of Independent Schools NSW.
